A Sense of History. Pleasant "old" rooms that seem to convey history and character. The riverside views were very unimpressive given the perspective over roof tops and the more industrial side of Hood River. The hotel could use a bit more refurbishment and modernization a la Hotel Elliott in Astoria, OR.

Hotel food by the numbers, with a couple of nice surprises..
The Scene
Anchored by an impressive old-growth bar, the airy dining room casually spills into the high-ceilinged Hood River Hotel lobby. Service is friendly and down-home.
The Food
The Italian-inspired menu has the usual steak, seafood and chicken suspects. Fried calamari with marinara is a tasty but tiny portion, inexplicably served over undressed greens, wilted from the hot oil. The house salad fares much better, especially with the deservedly famous ginger-lime dressing. Cappellini with meat sauce sports decent flavor but tough, dry meat. Chicken Marsala, however, elevates the standard-issue breast with a suave sauce of shallots, garlic, shiitake mushrooms and Marsala wine. Steak Madagascar proves the dangers of cooking out of season: The thin strip steak is topped with mealy tomatoes and asparagus. It's drizzled with a very good Hollandaise, but the effect is not harmonious. The excellent tiramisu soothes jangled taste buds.

Our kids loved this place.
My husband and I took the kids to Hood River Oregon and found this place right downtown. it's wonderful.
The dining at Pasquale's Restaurant was very good, but what our family like the most was that the 'kids' could walk to the movie without 'mom and dad'. for our family - (of four) this has been the best weekend this summer...
